I created a series of digital prints which reflect exploration of identity under distortion. Some of the subjects I explored in these prints are Flowers which often symbolise growth and beauty, but here feel artificial and imposed. I enjoyed exploring this contrast as it suggests forced softness, performative beauty, while also suggesting something darker exists underneath due to their texture, colouring and contrasting nature with the prints as a whole subject. Overall I really connected to the juxtaposition between the beauty and macabre theme of the prints as it makes the viewer think about the subject as well as the finer detail within the imagery. The process of these designs started with a collection of scanned images. which I then cut and created collages out of in photoshop and then added texture and distortion in photoshop for the finished designs. They have then been printed on a3 and framed.
